Annebet Leeuwis is a senior researcher and neuropsychologist at the Alzheimer Center Amsterdam in the Netherlands. In 2014 she started with a PhD position on the Heart-Brain Connection study, under supervision of Prof. Dr. W.M. van der Flier, Prof. Dr. F. Barkhof , which has led to her thesis "Connecting heart and brain: vascular determinants of cognitive impairment and depressive symptoms". At the moment, she continues her research on the Heart-Brain connection and focuses on the presence of amyloid pathology in patients with cardiovascular disease (i.e. patients with heart failure, carotid occlusive disease and vascular cognitive impairment). Leeuwis is also involved in a study to the prevalence of dementia at young age in the Netherlands.
