Simon F. Stämpfli, MD MSc FESC, is head of the outpatient clinic and of echocardiography at the Lucerne Heart Center in Switzerland. His main clinical focus is on echocardiography, congenital heart disease and cardiomyopathies. Dr. Stämpfli qualified as a medical doctor at the University of Zurich in 2005 and graduated as a Master of Science in Medical Biology in 2007. He also holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Heart Failure (ESC UZH). Before starting his position in Lucerne, he was Deputy Head of Echocardiography at the University Heart Center in Zurich. Regarding basic science, Dr. Stämpfli focuses mainly on arterial thrombosis, tissue factor, and its regulation. In clinical research, he is particularly interested in echocardiography, cardiomyopathies, heart failure, and valvular heart disease. Dr. Stämpfli is the founder of the Swiss Cardiologists of Tomorrow working group and is a former question writer and selector for the European Exam in General Cardiology (EECG).
