Martin Landray is Professor of Medicine & Epidemiology at the Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford, UK. He is Interim Director of the Big Data Institute & leads the clinical trials programme for Health Data Research UK. His research focuses on the use of digital technology and quality-by-design principles for large randomized trials of treatments for cardiovascular, including the SHARP, THRIVE, REVEAL, & ORION-4.
He is co-chief investigator of the RECOVERY trial, which has enrolled over 12,000 hospitalised patients with COVID-19. The trial produced 3 practice-changing results: neither hydroxychloroquine nor lopinavir-ritonavir improve clinical outcomes; by contrast dexamethasone reduces mortality by one-third among patients on ventilators.
He is a member of the European Society of Cardiology Regulatory Affairs Committee & leads the Good Clinical Trials Collaborative supported by Wellcome, Gates Foundation, and African Academy of Science.
