Dr. Gersh is a Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic, Honorary Professor of Medicine at UCT, the Queen Mary University of London & Adjunct Professor of Medicine at Duke University. He received his MB, ChB, from the University of Cape Town & his PhD from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. He has published over 1,300 manuscripts and 149 book chapters. He has received awards from the ACC, AHA, and in 2103 was designated at the ESC as one of four “legends of modern cardiology”. He has also received the Silver Medal of the ESC and the Gold Medal of the ESC in 2016. He is the 2015 recipient of the Mayo Clinic Distinguished Alumnus Award and recipient of the Distinguished Scientist Award of the American Heart Association.
