Kars Neven was born in 1975 in Maastricht (NL). From 1993, he studied Medicine at Maastricht University (NL).
It was in 1995, when he was introduced into the field of Cardiology and cardiovascular
research by prof. dr. H.J.J. Wellens. After graduating from Medicine in 2000, he started his specialty
training in Cardiology at the University Hospital Maastricht and the Isala klinieken in Zwolle
(NL). In 2007,
he met prof. dr. F. Ouyang, who introduced him to prof. dr. K.H. Kuck. From 2008 until 2010,
he was trained as a clinical electrophysiologist at the Asklepios Klinik St. Georg in
Hamburg (D). After completion of his fellowship, he started as
 a clinical electrophysiologist at the University Medical Center in Utrecht (NL). From 2012, he is the Head of Electrophysiology at the Alfried Krupp hospital in Essen (D). His main research topic is cardiac electroporation (pulsed field) ablation. In 2014, he received his PhD (NL) and in 2019 his Habilitation (D).
