Olga Azevedo obtained her Medical degree in the Faculty of Medicine of Porto University and her PhD degree in the School of Medicine of Minho University. Her PhD thesis was focused on Fabry disease (FD), as she discovered the founder effect of FD in the Portuguese region of Guimarães. She is a Cardiology consultant in Hospital Senhora da Oliveira – Guimarães in Portugal, where she is director of the Echocardiography Lab and Cardiomyopathies consultation. She is the Head of the Reference Centre of Lysosomal Storage Disorders (LSD) and member of the European Reference Network for Hereditary Metabolic Disorders (MetabERN). She is the President of the National Committee for the Treatment of LSD. She has been Investigator in clinical trials, author of several papers and speaker/chair in several meetings in the Cardiomyopathies field, particularly on FD, cardiac amyloidosis and Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She is an invited lecturer in the School of Medicine of Minho University.
