Daniel J.F.M. Thuijs, is a Medical Doctor, PhD-fellow and Resident in training at the department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Erasmus University Medical Centre in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He is involved in scientific projects focusing on procedural and patient outcomes in the fields of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiology. His main area of interest beholds coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and determining potential treatment differences between CABG and PCI in patients with de novo three-vessel and left main coronary artery disease. Currently, the primary projects where Daniel is working on are i) the 10-year follow-up of the randomized SYNTAX trial (SYNTAXES study) and ii) pre-specified subgroup analyses of the randomized EXCEL trial. With his research, Daniel aims to further help improve surgical and percutaneous procedural outcomes, and most importantly ensure optimal patient related outcomes after myocardial revascularization.
